The Project:

The Sonoma Valley Fire District is planning to relocate its aging fire station currently located at 877 Center Street. Built nearly 50 years ago, the existing facility no longer meets essential service building standards and cannot be feasibly remodeled to comply with modern codes. To better serve the community, the District has acquired property at 19154 and 19220 Arnold Drive with the goal of constructing a new fire station and joint training/community meeting facility. This relocation will enhance emergency response times across the Sonoma Valley and will be funded through the recently approved Measure H sales tax initiative.

Quick Facts:

  • The current fire station located at 877 Center Street was built approximately 50 years ago and is no longer suitable to serve our current needs.  This station has been assessed for re-modeling potential and determined that it would be unfeasible to bring the building up to current essential services building codes.
  • The Sonoma Valley Fire District has purchased two adjacent parcels at 19154 Arnold Drive and 19220 Arnold Drive with the intention of building a new fire station and training center/community meeting room.  The intention of this project is to re-locate the current personnel and equipment from the Center Street station to this new location on Arnold Drive.
  • It has been determined through response time analysis that relocating the Center Street Station to Arnold Drive will improve response times throughout the majority of the Sonoma Valley Fire District.
  •  The new station will house a staffed “all risk” paramedic engine company, a staffed paramedic ambulance, a ladder truck, a wildland engine, a water tender, a rescue vehicle and a backup ambulance.
  • A community meeting room/training facility is proposed at this location.  This building will be equipped with a modern class room for training our personnel.  This building can also be utilized as a temporary evacuation site or public meeting room.
  • This project will be funded by Measure H, the sales tax initiative that was recently passed by voters.
